Entering the Resort for the 1st Time: What to Expect
If you are arriving at the resort for your first time it can be quite an experience, to say the least!
You will likely be filled with anticipation, excitement, nerves, and many more emotions. This resort is surreal the first time you visit and it is certainly very unique!
It can take an hour to finally drum up the courage to get dressed appropriately for the resort and to venture onto the beach.
You might be surprised at first on entering, to see that there are clothed people walking around and this is because some people do, for example, work in the resort and are not there as tourists, whilst some other people just like you, are arriving or leaving the resort.
Leave it a few minutes though and you will soon see people walking around in their birthday suit as they walk to the beach, go shopping in Heliopolis, or visit the post office (which is close to the main entrance).
No matter what you imagine, the sight of the resort and the people does when arriving for the very first time, seem somewhat surreal.
You can be forgiven in the first hour for wondering if this really is a true naturist resort but once you stand on the beach you will find yourself faced by literally thousands of bodies with no more than a pair of sunglasses or a baseball cap on.
The view is one that takes getting used to for a few seconds because we are so conditioned in society to believe that as humans we should cover ourselves and hide what is natural!
Take a walk on the beach and you will find that the beach is sandy and a decent length and width and the water is often warm to mild.
It is also well worth reading the first-time visitors review to the village.
First-time Visitor Questions
This will be our first visit to CDA. We hope to find social interaction with pretty much any age, gender, or orientation.
We’re sociable people and would enjoy spending time with other like-minded travelers who are more familiar with the village. We are a gay male couple from northern California, aged 60 and 65.
We both can speak French. Both are physically fit and active
Visitors Feedback
To answer some of your questions about Cap d’Agde, you’re right to pay a visit to this resort.
There really is really no place like it! I would recommend coming here a bit later on in the year if you can. June is usually okay, but May can be cold, as it was last year, or scorching as it was in recent years.
It’s really potluck. Also, the sea hasn’t usually had a chance to warm up by May. I think the sea temperature might be about 18 Celcius.
There’s always the hot sauna that admits singles as well as couples.
It’s in the Port Ambonne part of the village and it’s called ‘Histoires d’O’. (Sauna, small pool, and steam room).
If you are only looking to spend a day here (and not stay the night), you can just turn up at the entrance gate and buy a day pass.
There are no other registration
Or, alternatively, you could park in Marseillan Plage and walk 2 miles all along the beach until you come to the clothes-free section.
The ‘naughty’ part of the beach is even further along, but you’ll notice it easily because there will be a lot more people there than the rest of the beach.
If you’re looking to book an apartment, you can find the vacation rentals and holiday apartments rentals section) here.
You could also book a day pass at the health spa just inside the village Natureva Spa where you could relax and freshen up, but it’s quite expensive.
To be honest, if you’re only here for the day, everything you need is on or near the beach.
All the restaurants are within walking distance, there are showering and toilet facilities open usually by May.
Once through the village gates, you can enjoy being without clothes everywhere in the village, including the supermarkets and even the bank!
You will find people covering up if the weather isn’t hot and also in the evenings though.
The beach is about 5 to 7 minutes walk from the village entrance and the nearest shopping, bars, restaurants area is in Port Ambonne, but there are two other main areas nearer to the beach – Port Nature and Heliopolis.

I would definitely recommend having a grilled duck or steak in Gymnos in Heliopolis.
It’s very friendly, the food is good, medium-priced, and you’re more likely to meet people if you eat there.
I hope this is of some help. I have a feeling that you’ll wish you had more than a day to spare here – or even a night!
