If you are reading this then the chances are that your prime reason for visiting France will be for the resort in Cap d’Agde and what better reason to visit the country?
If you are interested in seeing more of the country in addition to the naturist resort though, such as for seeing the French vineyards, tasting the different regional foods or enjoying the stunning coastline, then you are in for a treat.
Below a look at 10 reasons why France is worth visiting.
1. The French countryside
The French countryside is incredibly scenic and an area such as Les Trois Vallees (known in English as the Three Valleys) can be stunning to see and experience.
France is a relatively large country and it has an abundance of striking countryside and coastline.
If you plan to drive to the resort in Agde, this affords a wonderful opportunity to combine seeing the countryside with the drive down.
The Loire Valley in the centre of France (South-West of Paris and on the way to Agde for those of you coming across on the ferries from the UK) is a beautiful area, covering roughly 500 square miles.
There are some very good campsites in the region, with the French keen campers and with many of the campsites very well facilitated.
2. French Food
The food in France may perhaps not be to everyone’s liking but many people do love the unique taste and style.
French food is quite distinctive and if you are interested in cuisine, France can be a fantastic country to visit.
The key to appreciating the cuisine is to try different foods in different regions of the country.
The food in a place such as Agde for example is very different from what you can expect to taste in Paris or in an area such as Brittany or Burgundy.
In Agde, the main speciality and perhaps no surprise, given its coastal position, is the seafood.
Make sure to try the mussels and shrimp in Le Mississippi and to try ‘pain au chocolat’, a freshly made baguette and Rouille de seiche during your trip.

3. Summer Climate and Weather in France
In the summertime, it gets hot but not too hot but it really depends on what part of France you are visiting.
The French Alps, for example, are very different to the south coast.
For Agde, you can sunbathe without a problem in the main summer months, with temperatures around 28 – 30 Celsius.
Generally, though, it does not get so hot as places such as in Southern Italy and parts of Greece and Portugal.
If you do struggle when temperatures hit 30 Celsius (90 Fahrenheit if you are American) then June, the start of July and September might be months that better suit you.
These alternative months can be months that are still quite lively but certainly cooler. If you just want the best weather, the least chance of rain and winds then certainly July and August are your best bet.
In other parts of France, you can view updates on the weather across France from the BBC Weather pages at www.bbc.co.uk/weather/3017382.
4. The Coastline and the French Riveria
France has a stunning coastline, particularly in the south of the country, including the area popularly known as the French Riviera, which includes Nice, Cannes and St. Tropez.
The northern coastline such as around Brittany though should not be ignored and small fishing towns such as St.Malo are certainly worth a visit.
On the West Coast, the combination of a visit to Nantes combined with its nearby beaches is a very good option.
5. Nature Holidays
France as you may already appreciate, is a great country for enjoying fully natural holidays.
There is a very positive attitude towards the outdoors and nature in this country and family naturism is also popular across the country.
The summer months are a great time in which to get the best out of the country unless you are of course a ski fanatic.
France is home to some excellent ski resorts including Val d’Isère, Méribel and Tignes.
6. Attractions
There are some wonderful attractions which you will find of interest, especially in cities such as Paris.
See the Mona Lisa, and visit the Notre Dame Cathedral for example.
You can spend weeks in Paris alone. Close to Paris you have EuroDisney, whilst dotted across the central and southern areas you literally have hundreds of world-class vineyards which act as attractions in their own right.
One of the biggest attractions for adults is Cap d’Agde, a EuroDisney for the over 18’s one might say!
Sports
For those of you interested in sport, there is always the 6 Nations rugby and European Cup, football (soccer) games each weekend and other sports such as horse racing and the French Grand Prix.
In addition to food, wine and low working hours, the French have a love of sport and none more so than when ‘Les Tricolores’ are in action.
For arts, culture, sports and food you cannot go too far wrong in France. You might want to get behind the French teams when here as the French can be incredibly patriotic.
Cost of Holidays in France
Although parts of France such as Paris can sometimes be a little costly, you can take a reasonable holiday in terms of cost in France.
Petrol (gasoline) for example tends to be much cheaper in France than in the UK.
In general, many things such as food and the cost of transport is reasonably priced for most European and North American visitors.
Location
France is perfectly located in that it adjoins Spain, Italy and Belgium and is just a ferry ride across from England.
You can easily thus visit many other countries whilst in France if you so wish.
France is well-served by air with excellent connections worldwide. The continental train network also makes most of France relatively easily accessible.
Culture
Overall, the villages and towns of France can vary and each has its unique cultural aspect and as a country as a whole, there is plenty to experience and to enjoy.
If you really want to embrace and experience French culture, I would recommend trying and visiting different parts of the country.
Do visit Paris and see the Louvre and Moulin Rouge and take a walk along the Seine. Also though try and visit a vineyard in the Loire Valley and of course, make sure to spend at least a few days in Cap d’Agde resort and visit one of the foam parties!
