The Germans are very enthusiastic as naturists and as a result there are a number of campsites set up across the country that cater exclusively to this special interest group.
Freikörperkultu, is the German word for naturism, and every naturist beach and resort features the letters FKK, to indicate the nature of the beaches. Here are the top places in Germany.
1. Strand Somoa Beach, Sylt
Sylt is an island that is located at the northernmost end of Germany and is well known for its glorious climate and beaches.
Most of the beaches on the island of Sylt are clothing-optional beaches, unsurprising perhaps when you learn that this region is also home to the first naturist beach in the country in the 1920s.
We highly recommend this naturist beach in that it is very clean, a lovely beach and it has some good facilities in the area including very nice restaurants and bars along the kong boardwalk.
When to Visit: July through to the start of September.

This naturist campsite is located in the Baden-Württemberg region of Germany.
It is a very famous destination for naturists and is over 200 meters above sea level.
For those of you new to naturism, FKK stands for Freikörperkultur in German, and it translates into English to mean ‘free body movement‘.
So the abbreviation FKK is synonymous with naturism in Germany, hence the name ‘FKK Camping Hilsbachtal’.
This campsite attracts a very international mix of visitors, especially those with motorhomes and caravans.
Well, you kind of need a vehicle to get here to be fair given its location.
One of the things we love about this campsite is the facilities including:
- swimming pool
- tennis court
- small lake
The campsite is open to visitors from April till October.

This campsite has stunning views and is based in a picturesque location in the Radeburg, Germany area.
The main attraction is the tent area, which is situated right next to the lake and is dedicated only to nudists.
