Spain is ideal for naturism given that many parts of Spain have sun 10 months a year and the country has an enormous coastline all the way down its eastern seaboard. (Read post in Italiano).

Several resorts in fact do exist on the Spanish coastline including one of the worlds largest resorts with Costa Natura.

Naturism in Spain

In addition to Costa Natura there are many smaller resorts which enable to you bare all and many of these offer a decent range of facilities and many with high-quality campsites and clean and decent beaches.

These locations include Nueva Umbria beach, Vera Natura, La Menara and Naturista Bahía de Vera.

Let me go through the best resorts one at a time and let us start with the biggest in Spain and a resort which I rate second only to Cap d’Agde and which can be a good place to visit in the Cap off-season.

Costa Natura

(Carretera de Cadiz, Estepona)

Costa Natura is a beautiful village situated in the south of Spain and which can best be described as a big tropical garden by the sea-shore.

Costa Natura is a favorite location for many holidaymakers and Cap regulars who also enjoy the winter sun and a chance to experience Spanish culture.

The resort has excellent facilities and these include a swimming pool area, restaurant, a lovely long sandy beach,  a beach bar, and some sports facilities.

Location of Costa Natura

It is nowhere near the size of Cap d’Agde but because of its location far down the Spanish coast, you can enjoy the sunshine and warm weather down here quite often in months such as October and even sometimes November and from March time (if you get lucky).

Vera Playa, Spain

(La Naturaleza sn, Vera)

Vera Playa is another outstanding option within Spain and which sits close to Murcia on the South-Eastern coast on the Costa de Almeria.

This resort can be reached via Alicante or Murcia airports, i.e. from which you can drive via car rental to the resort.

The resort has its own beach area of which more than 1 mile is for naturists, a number of bars and restaurants within the resort and a supermarket just outside.

Natsun is one of the villages on Vera Beach, which contains more than half of the Spanish naturist destinations.

The tropical weather and relaxed atmosphere make this a must-visit destination.

Accommodation here comes in the form of two thousand plus apartments and villas, many of which are privately owned and get rented out to visitors.

Vera (both the textiled and clothing-optional area) is a small town with roughly fifteen thousand residents, a quarter of whom tend or reside part of the year inside Vera Playa.

Andalucia

If you’re tired of the beach why not try something different?

Set in beautiful Andalucian countryside surrounded by olive and almond groves and with a natural park and mountains behind it, Finca Xanadu is the perfect place to relax and enjoy being naturist in a lovely setting.

Finca Xanadu sits high on a hillside overlooking the town which is only 5 minutes by car but feels like a world away at times.

Finca Xanadu

Start your day waking up in your ever-so-comfortable king-sized bed and stepping out onto the terrace overlooking the infinity pool and town and mountains beyond.

Breakfast can be taken on the terrace or in the cool of the conservatory. Choose from a selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, croissants, toast, eggs, cold meats, and cheese.

Spend the day lazing around the pool, playing Boule on the lower terrace or chilling in the shade of the bar.

Finca Xanadu Pool

Lunch and dinner are communal affairs where we and our guests eat, drink and laugh together.

Lunch can sometimes be a long, lazy meal of salads, quiches or sometimes paella or pasta before returning to your sun lounger for a few hours.

The evening meal is preceded by cocktails and canapés in the bar followed by three delicious home-made courses finishing off with cheese if you have space, all washed down with good quality wines.

Evenings are also the best time to enjoy the outdoor hot tub from which you can star-gaze in the warm bubbles – with a glass of cold bubbles at hand if you wish.

At Finca Xanadu, you don’t need to worry about anything. Everything is included in the price – all drinks, food and accommodation, they also provide toiletries and pool towels so you don’t have to worry about bringing everything in hand luggage.

Menus are designed around our guests and we will ask if there’s anything you don’t like or have allergies to before you arrive and do their best to accommodate all requirements.

Just a few comments they have had:

  • “Thanks for a very restful few days. We are now working on burning off all those tasty calories.”
  • “The picture on your web site does not do the view justice by a long way. The facilities at Finca Xanadu are superb, people do not know what they are missing if they don’t come and stay. We really felt like we were staying with friends.”
  • “Fabulous. A lovely couple who are making a wonderfully normal naturist haven in the hills with magnificent views; that beautiful infinity pool and the food – gorgeous!”

Costa Brava and Verde

Costa Brava has over forty suitable beaches and is located in the Catalonian region; this area is a hot spot for textile-free travelers.

As a tourist, you can also enjoy a trip to the beautiful beaches at La Costa Verde (the Green Coast), which stretches along the French/Spanish border.

El Portus

El Portus is often described as a virtual paradise and is a famous naturist campsite that is located in a small river delta that is sheltered between two peaks.

This is not a clothing-optional resort that is hectic like Cap d’Agde but it is a quaint resort area that attracts a loyal client base.

A nice resort in Cartagena in Spain, on the South Eastern side of the country. Expect great weather for most of the year!

You can learn more from elportus.com.

El Templo del Sol

Located in Tarragona, El Templo del Sol has grassy camp-grounds lined with trees and is home to the famous Golden Torn Beach which many people flock to.

It has a huge swimming pool area for the naturist community and also has its own wellness area with jacuzzis and hot tubs. Further information from eltemplodelsol.com.

Charco del Palo/ Lanzorote

Sat on the Spanish island of Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands, this is one of the best options for enjoying the chance to get an all-over tan in the summer island sun.

This excellent resort is right beside the beach and is one of the most popular for clothes-free holidays on the islands.
