I get many of you emailing me to ask about package holidays to the naturist resort so I thought I would do a post here to explain the options for booking your trip to Cap d’Agde.
For holiday and vacation protection, I appreciate that it can be best to bring all of the elements together, i.e. the flights, accommodation, and airport transfers, and entrance passes.
Packages Holidays to Cap
There is no company that we are aware of that still offers package holidays to the resort.
Peng Travel in the past used to offer packages in the past but discontinued doing so many years ago.
Everyone tends to book the flights and accommodation separately and I appreciate that this can sometimes be tricky, trying to book both at exactly the same time.
The best way to book depends on what accommodation you plan to choose, your own flexibility dates-wise, and the availability of flights.
If you are driving to the resort then, you will not be looking to book a package (which normally includes a flight).
Let us break down the different options so that you can compose your own Cap d’Agde package.
Flights and Accommodation
The biggest issue is matching the flights and accommodation and there are some things to consider.
Camping and campsite
Driving
When you process your booking on the Rene Oltra site (they own and manage all campsite bookings) it is not an instant booking.
You can often have a wait of one or two days before knowing if your booking has been successful.
This is especially the case if you book in January, February or March i.e. just before the campsite opens, and before the office is working at full tilt.
Wait until too late in the season, on the other hand, and availability for chalets on the campsite can be poor!
The trick is to book as early as possible if you want a chalet on the campsite.
If you only need a camp spot pitch, there tends to be something available almost all season.
Those of you needing a camp spot pitch and who are driving should have no problems booking and planning your trip.
Flying
If you are flying in and need a chalet in the campsite, then try to avoid the problem I had.
I booked my flights at the same time as I booked the chalet via the Rene Oltra website, only I had not booked the campsite chalet because the automated email I got back was to inform me that my request has been received and then I would hear back shortly.
I did 2 days later and was told that there was no availability for me, even though the electronic system said there was.
You are dealing with a French system do not forget, and not everything is as organized as one becomes accustomed to in the UK, USA, and in other countries.
So my advice is to ensure you have the chalet booked and definite confirmation before booking your flight.
Hotels and Flights
None of the hotels are connected with any packages and so the best way is to book your flights and hotel at the same time, using two web browsers to match the hotels and flights.
If flying in from the U.S., Expedia.com is a good way of evaluating all flight options at once.
Consider flying into Montpellier Airport (that is the main airport in the area), Paris (if you want also to see Paris and do not mind getting a train down to Agde), or Beziers airport if you plan to connect and fly down from Paris.
You can book hotels (see our HOTELS page) directly online in real-time with immediate real-time confirmation.
Apartments and Flights
The rental agencies (including the popular A&D Agency) do not provide real-time bookings (i.e. you cannot instantly book 24/7 online).
Most agencies, such as the A&D Agency, will get back to you the same day as long as you wait until January to book the summer season.
From January onwards, it tends to be quite straightforward to make a booking on the same day.
Airport Transfers
We recommend A2A Taxi transfers and you can find them on this page.
Gare de Agde to the Naturist Resort
From these three transport hubs, the cost of a taxi is in my view affordable i.e. no more than Euros 50 (to the resort entrance, about 20 from Agde train station).
From Montpellier, you can catch a bus to the local train station and then get a train to Agde train station, then a bus or taxi to the resort.
Or you can get a taxi from Montpellier airport straight to the resort.
This is a viable option if i) you are 3, 4, or more people and can split the cost, or ii) if you are loaded and not worried about the cost.
Expect to pay around Euros 150 one-way.
From the more distant airports such as Carcassonne Airport, Toulouse Airport and also Perpignan Airport are all viable options, particularly because they tend to connect with other smaller regional airports in other parts of Europe, thus making it easy for many people.
Renting a car can be a good option from those three airports above.
Resort Parking Spaces
DO consider the situation regards car parking in the resort, something we discussed on the driving to Agde page.
If staying at any of the hotels, you should have no problem with parking if you need to rent a car because you are, for example, using one of the more distant airports such as Carcassonne, Toulouse or Perpignan.
Entrance Cards
The other thing you will want to consider is the entrance cards.
There is a main entrance into the main naturist resort and then there is a main entrance if you are staying at the campsite, inside the main resort.
You need not worry about any of the entrance cards, because you can pay at each entrance.
Just be aware that there are some minor fees involved.
