There are some excellent places to go if you are looking to do day trips from Cap d;Agde naturist resort. Below I go through some options.
About Sete
Commonly known as the ‘Venice of Languedoc, Sete, is a little town in the South of France that is located near the River Herault.
Sete is situated in the Languedoc-Roussillon region and it is a popular resort town with a fairly important international port that is also the biggest fishing port in the Mediterranean.
The locals in Sete speak both French and Occitan.
Although the outskirts of the town boast a few modern factories, the town has still managed to maintain its old-world charm.
The town of Agde is in close proximity to both the Canal a Rhone and the Canal du Midi, which led to the development of the town in the 17th century and contributed much to Sete’s rich history.
Events and Things To Do in Sete
In the summer, the weather is ideal for visitors, when the town of Agde hosts a water jousting event that takes place every year.
Sete also has a number of cafes, restaurants, bars, and quaint hotels that tourists can take advantage of while in the region.
DO make sure though to do a tour of the Noilly Pratt museum and distillery.
Getting to Sete is relatively easy, with a number of trains coming into the town from Montpellier.
It is also possible to enter Sete by one of the two canals; there is also a ferry that frequently transports passengers to Sete from Morocco.
It is a community all its own; its residents are referred to as the Setois and at least half a dozen of France’s most famous artists and sculptors were born and raised there.
Where is Sete?
Interested in cycling to the next town? Sete is a very nice 24 km cycle ride that is really flat terrain and will take you roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes to cycle at a leisurely pace. They also have a very good Sunday market there!
More Local Activities and Sites
When visiting Sete you might also want to consider the following things to do:
Tour the Musee Paul Valery
The museum contains paintings, sculptures, and various forms of artwork from a wide variety of periods created by local artists, as well as many important ones from all over France.
Art displays include temporary ones from historical greats, as well as permanent exhibits by current locals.
The art presentation extends to the gardens outside, and the walk to the museum proffers a majestic sweeping view of the city of Sete. It is also a good site to enjoy a coffee or a meal.

Walking food and wine tour
The French are world-famous for being fabulous cooks, and for good reason. Sete, even by French standards, is special in this regard.
The walking tour includes strolling down cobblestone streets by ancient architecture while cultural and historical facts are explained by an English-speaking guide.
You also get a special treat by being able to sample culinary masterpieces, such as local pastries, cheeses, wines, fruits, and other fine foods.
They even teach you how to open an oyster. The tour lasts about 3 hours
Visit the Espace Brassens
This museum is a tribute to the famous singer Georges Brassens.
It contains items and stories that describe his early life, and displays of songs he has written, along with explanations of their meanings.
There is a free audio guide available. Georges Brassens’ grave is located across the street in the Cimetiere Le Puy; it is in the last section on the left, in Section 9 in the center.
Since everything in the museum is written only in French, it is good to have an interpreter guide.
Tour Sete via Vision Sous-Marine
You can see this fabulous city by boat, offering a different point of view.
This is best done on sunny days when the sea is calm. Besides seeing the city, you can get a great view of ocean life in the reefs, such as oysters and mussels.
