Some of you come down here to Cap d’Agde for a few days, whilst others of you come for the whole summer, driving down with a towed caravan or in a motor-home in some instances.
The length of stays varies drastically with some of you seeming to spend up to 5 months living inside the resort, and others on a shortstop for a short weekend.
Whether you are staying a short time or for the season, if this is your first visit, you will probably be wondering what you need to bring down and what is available to purchase in the resort.
So let me tell you what you will need and where you can buy it in the resort or outside the resort, and what you are best off bringing down with you.
Shopping for the CampSite
If you are going to be staying in the campsite, particularly to camp (as opposed to staying in one of the campsite chalets) there are a lot of things you might need.
Let me start by immediately answering for commonly asked questions about what to buy:
Can I buy a tent in the resort?
The simple answer is no.
You will need to bring a tent with you or ensure you have a way to drive into Beziers to get to the Decathlon store, from where you can buy a tent.
Alternatively (and especially if you are driving to the resort), why not buy one and take it with you.
You might also want to include an awning to make the most use of the large camp pitch spots they provide in the naturist resort.

What about gas canisters for my gas cooker?
You can buy these in the resort in several stores in the resort including ‘Green Bazar‘ is, in fact, one of the best shops in the resort because they have everything!
They are not a food store but they have everything you are likely to need such as mosquito machines, sun chairs, every kitchen utensil you are likely to need, barbecue sets, light bulbs, gas bottles, sun umbrella,s and literally hundreds of other items too.
This store can be found in the Heliopolis building (see the map).
Where can I buy towels for the beach and for general use?
Might you be surprised at this point if I say that you can buy towels in the Green Bazar?
Several other stores also sell towels, including in the Port Nature building and Port Ambonne building.
What if I want to buy a caravan?
Several people do buy or sell their caravan each year and some leave their caravan in the Agde or Beziers areas in a gardeniagge (caravan storage place).
If you are looking to buy or sell a caravan let us know and we can promote it here on this site for you.
The best way otherwise is simply to get chatting to people in a bar such as Johnny Wokkers.
There is usually one person at least with a caravan for sale, at a given time.
Buying wine cheaply
wine is very cheap in France and if you are staying at the campsite, you might want to buy wine directly from a vat.
There is one wine store in the Heliopolis building and they have vats in the store and they pour the wine straight into the bottles you supply (although they usually have some spares if needed).
The wines are good local French wines and great quality usually and very cheap.
If you have a car then the local Hypermarket is also a great place to stock up.
Shopping for Clothes as a Naturist
There are roughly thirty shops which are inside the resort and which sell every type of swimwear and nightwear you can imagine and are likely to need.
Walking around the shops and viewing all of the interesting outfits which are quite unique and designed for such a resort, are a fun part of the Agde experience.
The one warning though is that buying clothing here is NOT cheap and if anything, a little bit on the pricey side.
I would recommend buying what you need before arriving in terms of clothing i.e. for evening wear.
Buying Food inside Cap d’Agde Resort
The resort is self-contained in that you can easily stay for 3 months and really find that you do not need to leave the resort.
Everything from ATM machines for cash, post office, garage, several supermarkets, bars and restaurants. for example, are inside the gated resort.
The food certainly is cheaper if you have a car and can drive the 10 – 15 minutes (depending on the traffic at the time) to the supermarkets in Agde and Beziers and if you are staying for more than a week it is worth considering.
Inside the resort prices, the prices are reasonable for food both in the supermarkets and in the restaurants (although not as cheap of course as the local Hyper Supermarket outside).
In terms of what is on sale in the resort, you can basically buy everything you will need.
Fruit, vegetables, cooking products (such as olive oils, matches, herbs), drinks, washing products, and everything to need to stay in the resort.
Other Items to Buy for a Naturist Holiday in Cap d’Agde
Waterproof beach container
If you plan to go to one of the foam or bubbles parties, you will need a waterproof container in which you can carry money, cigarettes and lighter if you smoke, and any keys.
You cannot wear anything in the resort except for sandals, so this waterproof container is your best friend.
You can normally buy them in the ‘Green Bazar’ store in the Heliopolis building or at the entrance when you go into the foam party.
If you want to order one before the trip, you can usually see them on amazon.com or amazon.co.uk by searching by “waterproof money container”.
They are not always available though so you might want to buy one before you go:
Table tennis
If you are staying at the campsite, you also will find that you have access to the table tennis tables and other recreational facilities in the area which runs parallel between the beach and the campsite. You can buy table tennis bats and balls in the Green Bazaar.
Buying souvenirs
There are a couple of newsagents (or you might call them tobacconists) and they sell things such as postcards and some gimmicky souvenirs.
English, German, and French Daily newspapers – There are a couple of shops in the resort, both in Port Nature and Heliopolis and Port Ambonne, from where you can buy daily newspapers in English, German and French, and sometimes other languages.
They are normally for the same day but do check the date of the newspaper as once or twice, the newspaper has been 1 or 2 days old when I have bought one in the past.

In addition and quite importantly, there are bank machines in a few locations, including in the Port Nature building.
The resort really has everything you need so you do not need to worry about where to shop.
You also have the benefit of not having to worry about clothes whilst shopping and the additional option of a large hypermarket roughly 1 mile outside the enclosed naturist resort.
Note: Many of you like to read the English, German, or French national newspapers whilst on holiday. The shop TABAC-Press in the resort sells daily newspapers.
There are 2 commercial sections in Port Nature, one each in Heliopolis and Port Ambonne, and a small cluster of shops, restaurants, and tourist offices outside the entrance to the Quartier Naturiste.
There is an ATM (cash dispenser) in the Port Ambonne center and a cyber cafe in Port Nature 6 with another in the Place de la Marine in Agde.
