Montpellier Airport to Cap d’Agde at a Glance
The easiest way to get from Montpellier Airport to Cap d’Agde is by using a pre-booked private transfer or taxi. Expect the journey to take around 45–60 minutes in normal road conditions, although in busy summer traffic it can understandably take longer.
A cheaper alternative is to use Montpellier Airport shuttle line 620, which currently costs €2 and takes around 25 minutes into the Montpellier transport network. You can then connect with a train from Montpellier to Agde, followed by a local bus or taxi to Cap d’Agde. Montpellier Airport currently charges €2 for the airport shuttle, or €3 for a combined shuttle and tram ticket.
SNCF currently operates frequent direct trains between Montpellier and Agde, with the quickest taking around 30 minutes.
Public transport can therefore work fine as a solo traveller, but if you are travelling with any luggage, the public transport option can be quite tiring and take a couple of hours, so it is not ideal.

If you are staying for a short break, such as four nights, and will stay inside the Naturist Village, hiring a car wouldn’t make too much sense financially speaking.
If you are staying for three weeks and want to explore local areas such as Sète, Marseillan, Pézenas, vineyards and the surrounding region, then car hire is worth considering. Do, though, make sure your accommodation includes a parking spot if choosing car rental!
How Long Does Montpellier Airport to Cap d’Agde Take?
For a direct taxi or private transfer, I would normally allow:
Around 45 minutes to 1 hour
This assumes normal weather and no unusually heavy holiday traffic.
July and August can be busier, particularly at weekends and at certain times of day.
Your exact destination also matters in that central Agde is not quite the same destination as an apartment inside the Naturist Village.
The airport’s published taxi information states that you should expect a journey of between 45 minutes and one hour for the journey to Agde/Cap d’Agde.

Private Transfer – The Simplest Option
For most overseas visitors, this would be my first choice if the price is acceptable.
Before leaving home, you give the transfer company the necessary information. A company such as A2ATaxi Transfers will expect:

- your exact Cap d’Agde accommodation.
Then, when you arrive, collect your luggage and meet the driver, and within around an hour you should normally be at the resort checking in! No train tickets, trying to find the bus stops, and so on.
No wondering whether the local Cap d’Agde bus is still running when you finally reach Agde.

Why Montpellier Can Still Be a Better Choice Than Béziers
If you can find a flight directly into Béziers Airport, then there are certainly some benefits to that airport, including:
- Béziers Airport is closer.
- It has connections to some regional airports across Europe that might be close to where you live
Montpellier Airport, on the other hand, is a larger airport and can give you:
- More routes
- Different travel days
- Different airlines
- and sometimes much better flight times
So you may sometimes be facing a consideration such as:
Béziers at £220 return flight and on awkward travel days.
Montpellier at £95 return flight with better flight times.
In this type of scenario, I am sure that you agree that even after paying more for the transfer, Montpellier may still make sense. The best airport for the resort is not necessarily the one geographically closest to your apartment.
What Happens When You Arrive at Montpellier Airport?
Montpellier is larger than Béziers but still relatively straightforward and not quite the size of some airports such as JFK or Heathrow. Montpellier as an airport is much easier to navigate.
Once you’ve:
- passed immigration if required;
- collected your luggage;
- and entered the arrivals hall,
- the official taxi rank is directly in front of the arrivals hall.
If you’ve pre-booked a private transfer, follow the meeting instructions given by the company.
Save the driver’s telephone number before you travel and switch your phone back on after landing.
Be Careful With Unofficial Taxi Approaches
As with any airport, do pay attention to which taxis you use if you decide to use a taxi.
Official taxis use the dedicated lane in front of entrance A and display an illuminated taxi sign, an external licence plate, and taximeters should be inside the vehicle.
Avoid going with a driver who touts inside the terminal and never allow yourself to be separated from your baggage.
Should I Pre-Book or Use the Airport Taxi Rank?
Unlike tiny regional airports like Beziers International Airport, Montpellier does have a taxi rank with a number of taxis available, so arriving without a booking isn’t necessarily a disaster.
Even so, I would be tempted to pre-book for Cap d’Agde if:
- You’re travelling in July or August
- You are arriving late
- There are more than four people
- You need a minivan
- You have a lot of luggage
Travelling to Cap d’Agde Naturist Village?

Can the Driver Take Me Directly to My Apartment?
It is normally possible for A2A Private Hire drivers to take you very close to your apartment or hotel in the resort. But this also depends on:
- Where you’re staying
- What your accommodation owner has told you
- How your arrival/check-in is organised
- With private apartment rentals, you may need to meet an agent, collect keys, or use a key box
What If I’m Staying Outside the Naturist Village?
If anything, it is even easier for the transfer company to drop you off. Make sure you have the normal information such as hotel or apartment name and full address.
Remember, Agde is a whole town and Cap d’Agde is more than just the naturist resort.
Tell Them How Much Luggage You Have
Do consider informing the transfer company how much luggage you plan to bring if you are a large group and will be bringing a lot of equipment with you.
Eight people with a large suitcase or two each, beach equipment, and golf clubs (there are no golf courses inside the resort, but you can play elsewhere) can mean that the van will not be large enough.
Provide as much information as you can when booking your transfer.
What Happens If My Flight Is Delayed?
You will normally be asked by your airport transfer company to provide your flight number when booking.
The transfer company will then be able to track your flight progress and will be aware of any delays and issues.
A good airport-transfer arrangement should take the actual flight into account. You might want to also ask when booking:
How long will the driver wait if the flight is delayed? And are there additional waiting charges?
Early-Morning Flights
For very early flights, I would definitely recommend pre-booking an airport transfer or taxi.
There are few less enjoyable conclusions to a holiday than standing outside an apartment before sunrise wondering whether a taxi is actually coming.
If leaving the naturist resort, the easiest place to be collected from is outside the front entrance gates, but if you are using a service such as A2ATaxi Transfers, they have a pass to enter the resort and should be able to collect you much closer to the accommodation block or hotel you are staying in, within the resort.
How Do You Get From Montpellier Airport to Cap d’Agde by Public Transport?
If you are determined to save money when coming to the resort, you certainly can travel here by public transportation if you wish to.
Public transport from Montpellier Airport to Cap d’Agde is perfectly possible, and the main journey you will take is:
Montpellier Airport → Airport Shuttle Line 620 → Montpellier rail connection → Train to Agde → Local bus or taxi to Cap d’Agde.
For a solo traveller with one suitcase and plenty of time, this can make a lot of sense.
Stage 1: Montpellier Airport Shuttle – Line 620
The official Montpellier Airport Shuttle, line 620, can take you to and from Montpellier Airport and to the main transport hub in the centre of Montpellier.
- Journey time: approximately 25 minutes
- Shuttle ticket: €2 (subject to change)
- Combined shuttle + tram ticket: €3 (subject to change)
Tickets are normally sold on board, including by credit card.
Stage 2: Getting to the Correct Montpellier Railway Station
This is where you need to pay attention because it can get a little confusing if you have not done this trip before.
Montpellier has two main railway stations, and these are:
- Montpellier Saint-Roch
- Montpellier Sud de France
Many of the frequent regional local trains towards Agde leave from Saint-Roch, while some long-distance services also use Sud de France.
So do pay attention to which exact station is listed on your train ticket.
Stage 3: Montpellier to Agde by Train
This is the relatively easy stage of the journey because SNCF operates frequent direct services between Montpellier and Agde.
Do note, though, when searching for the train to Cap d’Agde that there is no station at Cap d’Agde. You must search for ‘Agde’.
The fastest train can take around 30 minutes.

Stage 4: Agde Railway Station to Cap d’Agde
Once you arrive at Agde train station, the next stage is to catch a bus or taxi from Agde train station to the naturist resort. So from Agde Gare SNCF, you step outside the station and sometimes (but not always) there may be a taxi available outside.
There is also a bus stop outside the train station, and one of the buses goes to the naturist resort entrance.

How Long Does Public Transport Take?
It all depends on traffic and train schedules, of course, but to give you a rough estimate of travel times:
- Private transfer: Around 45–60 minutes, door to door in normal traffic.
- Public transport: Usually considerably longer overall, with several connections.
You might feel that saving €100 or so is entirely worthwhile.
For others of you, getting to the resort quickly and easily, and with luggage, the transfer fee will be well worth it to start the vacation more smoothly.
Private Transfer or Public Transport?
- One person – Public transport deserves serious consideration. The savings can be worthwhile.
- Two people – Get a transfer quote and compare it with the inconvenience of several connections.
- Four people – A private transfer starts becoming much more attractive per person.
- Five to eight people – Ask for a minivan quote. The economics may work surprisingly well.
- Young backpacker with one bag – Train.
- Couple with two large suitcases after a 5 am start – Taxi or airport transfer.
It is your choice, but the information above hopefully helps.
Is there a Direct Public Montpellier Airport Bus to Cap d’Agde?
The simple answer is no. There is no standard public bus that goes from Montpellier Airport to Cap d’Agde naturist resort.

You don’t have to pre-book, and there are usually taxis available up until the last flights arrive at Montpellier Airport
As mentioned earlier, the airport has an official taxi rank. This is convenient if:
- Your plans change
- Your flight is disrupted
- You change your mind about using public transport after landing.
Before setting off, I’d confirm the likely fare with the driver. Cap d’Agde is a substantial journey from the airport.
What About Uber or Other App-Based Services?
Availability and prices can vary quite a bit depending on the time of day and how busy it is. Uber uses dynamic pricing, so in the busiest times you can experience surge pricing and limited driver numbers.
If you love Uber, though, then Uber is available in Montpellier.
For a trip to the naturist resort, I tend to recommend a pre-planned holiday transfer to start your holiday or vacation off with a more certain and relaxed experience.
Hiring a Car at Montpellier Airport
Montpellier is a very good airport for car hire, with the airport currently listing major rental operators including:
- Avis/Budget
- Enterprise/Alamo/National
- Europcar
- Hertz/Dollar/Thrifty
- Sixt and other rentals
Car-rental parking is located close to the terminal area, so if you want a car for your holiday anyway, picking it up at Montpellier Airport may make more sense than paying separately for airport transfers.

Do You Actually Need a Hire Car at Cap d’Agde?
If your entire holiday consists of spending all of your time inside the naturist village and using the following facilities and doing the following, then you will not need a car, except if you wish to hire one solely to get to the resort (although you’d be paying for the car rental throughout your stay and that would cost far more than an airport transfer):
- Naturist Village
- beach
- restaurants
- bars
- shops
The naturist village is self-contained and includes all of the above in the list, as well as having a marina, post office, pharmacy, and a lot more.
When is a Car Worthwhile for Cap d’Agde Naturist Village?
The key to making car hire worthwhile when you stay in the naturist resort is if you plan to do day trips outside of the naturist resort itself.
You might wish, for example, to explore:
- Sète
- Marseillan
- Pézenas
- Béziers
- local vineyards;
- the Étang de Thau;
- and villages throughout the wider Hérault.
Having a hire car will make it a lot easier for you to explore these lovely locations.
For most people visiting the naturist resort, because everything is self-contained, they spend the whole holiday inside the resort.
Montpellier Airport or Béziers Airport?
If both flights work equally well in terms of costs, proximity to where you live, and provide a decent flight departure time, then I would choose a Béziers Cap d’Agde Airport transfer.
From Béziers Airport, it is faster and cheaper to get to the resort, so choose Béziers if:
- You have a convenient direct flight;
- The price is sensible;
- The arrival time works;
Béziers Airport is only around 15 km from Agde/Cap d’Agde according to the airport itself.
Choose Montpellier If:
- The flight schedule is much better
- The airfare is lower
- It is the only option because Béziers doesn’t operate from your departure airport;
- You want more airline choices
- You wish to see Montpellier for a few days also

Seeing Montpellier
Montpellier is in itself a wonderful city in which to stay a few days, particularly if you are interested in history and culture.
